Becoming a yoga teacher is a beautiful feeling, like you're really making a difference in the world, and YOU ARE and there are some things to remember after you have planned your classes, made the playlists and ready to lead
1. Your Personal Practice. Iyengar says that for every class you teach, take one. Yes, this is cumulative, so you are probably ahead of the game, and It’s easy to get so wrapped up in teaching that your own mat starts getting dusty. Your personal practice is where it all began, and your personal practice is the anchor to your success. Stay inspired, keep your body moving and your mind still. Plus, your students can tell when you’re walking the talk.
2. Vibes Over Everything Your class might have the best sequence ever, but if the energy in the room feels off, people won’t stick around. Think about it: are your students feeling seen and supported? Are you offering modifications a so everyone feels included? Yoga isn’t about perfect poses—it’s about creating a space where people want to come back week after week.
3. Stop Talking So Much Here’s the tea: new teachers sometimes feel like they have to fill every second with instructions. You don't. Silence is golden. Give yourself and your students a chance to feel the poses and connect with their breath. Pay attention to their body language and adjust your flow if needed. Yoga is a two-way conversation, not a monologue.
If you're a seasoned teacher or if you’re just starting out, remember teaching yoga is a journey that keeps on growing. Keep showing up for yourself and your students and don’t forget to breathe.
