How to choose the right wellness or yoga retreat for you. Here are questions to ask yourself before deciding.

With so many options out there, choosing the best Yoga Retreat for you can feel a bit overwhelming.

Here are 8 Questions to Ask Yourself Before Choosing A Yoga Retreat to help make the decision process a little easier.

1. What are your reasons for going on a Yoga Retreat?

What do you hope to get out of your retreat experience? Do you want to experience new adventures? Do you want to relax? Do you want to detox? Do you prefer more physical, mental or spiritual stimulation? 

Do you want Wifi? Or prefer to completely unplug?

2. What type of yoga do you want to practice?

Are you a beginner or more advanced? Are you looking for vinyasa/flow, acro, yin or restorative/gentle? Do you prefer a combination?

3. What type of retreat leader are you looking for? 

Every retreat is led by a specific teacher or group of teachers. Some teachers instruct with more physical, mental or spiritual focus.

Do your research on the teachers. Follow them on social media. Do you enjoy their teaching style? Do you vibe with their personality & values?

This will also give you insight to the other participants that will be attracted to the retreat.

4. What does the retreat schedule look like?

How many classes per day do you want to take? 

Are you looking for lots of downtime & quiet? Or do you prefer lots of yoga & fitness classes each day? 

5. Are you looking for a retreat or a vacation? 

A retreat should include plenty of time & activities for reflection. A vacation will usually have a busier schedule centered around partying & adventure. 

6. What’s your budget? 

Are you just looking to get away? Or do you want to splurge?

Do you want to travel to a new place or another country (this will make it more expensive)? Do you prefer to stay local? 

7. Do you want to go solo? Or with a friend or loved one? 

Both options have benefits. It’s really up to you - what kind of experience do you wish to have?

8. How long do you want to retreat for? When do you want to go?

Do you want to step away for 1 week or 2? Do you want to do a day retreat? Or a long weekend?

What season do you want to go in? Plan ahead & find a retreat that fits your schedule.

 

Once you have answered these 8 questions for yourself, you can move forward & choose a yoga retreat that fits your values, desires & schedule best.
